Position Overview:

The Electrical Design Engineer will be based in our Ambler, Pa., office. This individual must have a background in electrical engineering and a basic understanding of power systems and lighting design in commercial and light industrial markets. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful and goal-oriented individual who desires challenging work in a dynamic environment.

Precis is recognized for design expertise and proficiency in providing strategically sensitive and technically complex engineering and architectural services. The Electrical Department is regularly engaged in a broad spectrum of projects that require creative solutions to challenging building systems and utility issues. This offers an excellent environment for employees to rapidly expand their knowledge and understanding of the key role engineering plays in the success of building renovations and new construction projects.

Responsibilities:

• Provide electrical engineering services to assist with the design of complete power distribution/lighting systems supporting facility expansions, renovations, remediation, and new construction projects from concept through detailed design and construction.
• Receive instruction on specific objectives, direction on unconventional and/or complex problems with possible solutions, and a thorough review of completed work for application of sound professional judgement.

• Gather information and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform standard engineering calculations, analysis, and other design functions.

• Independently prepare complete drawings and portions of other project documents for power distribution systems, including equipment, receptacles, grounding, lighting, lighting controls, and related building components.

• Assign basic design tasks to interns, co-ops, and entry-level staff. Provide training, mentorship, and general review of their work.

• Interact with equipment vendors and other project team members to coordinate deliverables.
• Periodically visit project sites to survey existing conditions and observe construction activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering
• FE Exam / EIT is preferred

• Minimum 1-4 years MEP engineering experience

• Strong computer literacy with advanced knowledge and use of Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, AutoCAD, and Revit

• Experience with SKM Power Tools is a plus

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

• Knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards and guidelines

• Experience with critical environments and related building systems is a plus
