Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Director of Process Utilities Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience designing and implementing clean utility systems (WFI, purified water systems, clean steam, clean gasses) and CIP (Cleaning-In-Place) systems for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and/or chemical facilities.
This is a strategic leadership role within the Process Engineering department, responsible for growing and managing the process utilities team, leading project efforts, developing business, and representing the discipline both technically and operationally. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise and a strong entrepreneurial mindset to help shape the long-term direction and success of the group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the process utilities engineering team within a multi-disciplinary environment
- Serve as subject matter leader in the design, implementation, and operation of process and clean utility systems
- Apply knowledge of cGMPs, US Pharmacopoeia, and ASME BPE standards to utility and CIP system design
- Collaborate with clients, partners, and internal teams to define and execute project goals
- Conduct and review technical studies, prepare proposals, and develop project budgets and schedules
- Represent Precis and the process utilities discipline in client meetings and presentations
- Foster client relationships and drive new business opportunities
- Present information, report out, represent Precis and the project team at client meetings
Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology projects
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
- Deep expertise in process utility and CIP system design, including Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment specifications
- Familiarity with instrumentation, automation, and control strategies
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and multidisciplinary project coordination
- Business development and client relationship management experience
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and time management skills
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Logical thinking with creative problem-solving skills
- Understanding of budget control
- Familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
