Precis Helps SPS Technologies Launch a New Era in Aerospace Manufacturing

SPS Technologies broke ground Friday, 22 May 2026 on a world-class aerospace products manufacturing facility in Abington Township, Pa.

Precis leaders were on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony, marking an important milestone just 15 months after the former facility was destroyed by a February 2025 fire. SPS employees, community members, and the design team commemorated the beginning of this significant project.

“Being on site reinforced that this project is more than a rebuild,” said Precis Founding Principal and President Robert Dick, PE. “This facility is being built for the next 100 years of aerospace manufacturing. It represents the continuation of a longstanding manufacturing legacy and a commitment to delivering a modern, resilient facility designed for the future.”

Intended to be operational in 2028, the 400,000-sf facility will use the latest technology and automation to manufacture fasteners used in the global aerospace industry. Precis brings an integrated architecture and engineering approach to the project, aligning building systems functionality and architecture to support complex manufacturing operations.

“Precis is proud to serve SPS,” said Precis Project Executive Jaime Leite, CEM, LEED AP BD+C. “Projects of this scale require thoughtful coordination aligning architecture, engineering, manufacturing processes, and community considerations. The entire process prioritizes performance, safety, and long-term adaptability.”

The state-of-the-art facility design includes advanced, efficient production environments; improved safety and system resilience; and design to support sustainable operations. The project will incorporate solar panels and other features for enhanced resource conservation, putting it on track for LEED Silver certification or higher. Operations at the facility will include extensive safety measures and environmental controls for the protection of air, water, and soil.
