Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Process Utilities Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and/or chemical industries. This role focuses on the design and implementation of Clean Utility Systems (e.g., WFI generation, purified water systems, clean steam, clean gases) and Equipment Cleaning in Place (CIP) systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, deep knowledge of equipment and CIP design, and familiarity with US Pharmacopoeia and ASME BPE standards. This is an exciting opportunity for a resourceful, goal-oriented individual to help shape and grow Precis’ emerging process utilities business. The candidate should have an entrepreneurial mindset, be comfortable serving as both a technical and project lead, and be ready to help scale this area of practice across diverse projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate multi-discipline engineering teams for process utility projects involving Precis, client, and third-party personnel
  • Act as subject matter expert in the design and implementation of process and clean utilities
  • Provide technical leadership on projects and represent the process utilities discipline
  • Interface with clean utility and cleaning equipment manufacturers
  • Understand instrumentation, automation, and control approaches
  • Apply knowledge of cGMP requirements to operations and manufacturing facility design
  • Communicate and articulate process design deliverables clearly to clients and partners
  • Generate process project deliverables including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, utility diversity calculations, equipment specifications, and narratives
  • Conduct and oversee quality reviews of internal and third-party deliverables
  • Develop new clients and expand relationships with existing clients
  • Lead proposal development in response to RFPs
  • Define project phases, determine resource needs, and support personnel assignments
  • Prepare and review system calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Present project updates to clients and participate in project meetings
  • Monitor project schedules and resolve issues to keep projects on track
  • Track project costs and performance using key performance indicators

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate across matrixed teams and client environments
  • Strong experience in process utility design and documentation (e.g., P&IDs, equipment specs)
  • Strong delegation, mentoring, and leadership skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities
  • Logical thinker with creative problem-solving ability
  • Understanding of budget control and project financial management
  • Familiarity with industry standards, practices, and procedures
