Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Senior Process Automation Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and implementation of industrial automation systems for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, and/or building systems markets.
The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and deep knowledge of instrumentation, control, and automation system design, testing, and implementation. Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs, Siemens Building Automation Systems, and the DeltaV DCS platform is preferred. This is an exciting opportunity for a resourceful, goal-oriented individual to help grow Precis’ newly established Process Automation group. The candidate should be entrepreneurial, comfortable in a project leadership role, and able to represent automation as a key discipline on larger multi-discipline project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate multi-discipline engineering teams for automation projects involving Precis, client, and third-party personnel
- Serve as subject matter expert in the design and implementation of process, utility, and building automation systems
- Interface with major automation system vendors such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell, ABB, and Emerson
- Apply knowledge of system integration technologies and approaches
- Lead automation system implementation, migration, and upgrade projects
- Apply cGxP compliance requirements as they relate to automation systems
- Present automation designs at client meetings
- Perform and review quality assurance on Precis and third-party deliverables
- Oversee and coordinate with third-party control system vendors
- Develop new clients and expand relationships with existing ones
- Prepare proposals and responses to RFPs
- Define project phases and resource requirements; participate in team planning
- Prepare and review system calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
- Monitor schedules and resolve issues to ensure timely project delivery
- Track and manage project costs and performance metrics
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience
- Experience in automation system design, programming, and implementation
- Knowledge of industrial and process instrumentation types, technologies, and specifications
- Experience leading teams in matrixed environments and managing multiple client relationships
- Effective presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management abilities
- Logical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
- Understanding of budget control and project financial tracking
- Familiarity with current industry practices, technologies, and tools
