Vincent P. O’Brien, PE
- “We take the business of engineering seriously. And we respect the science and math behind the engineering. At the end of the day, we really enjoy what we do.”
Vince O’Brien provides principal leadership for the electrical engineering team, with emphasis on high reliability – any projects with critical utility demands that must remain powered and functional at all times. He joined Precis as the firm’s third partner and has led electrical engineering design, project management, and standards development, an area where he continues to provide guidance on benchmarks and best practices. He has 37+ years of professional engineering experience with expertise in the design of medium and low-voltage power distribution systems, backup power systems, and system controls.
Convinced his calling would involve building rocket ships or fighter jets, Vince instead began his career designing shipboard power for the U.S. Navy. He had the opportunity to travel the world before shifting to consulting engineering. He found his niche as a mentor and team-builder. A natural teacher, Vince readily and enthusiastically clarifies and articulates complex electrical concepts to staff and clients.
The married father of five grown children – two of which work for Precis – Vince is now an empty-nester who enjoys theater, seeing classic rock bands he missed during his youth, and traveling. He volunteers with his church and participates in the Union League Wine Club.
