John McCullough, PE
- “As a leader, I try to be fair, compassionate, direct, and consistent. The minute it becomes cold and too businesslike, you lose the culture we’ve created.”
John McCullough provides principal leadership for Precis North Carolina operations, directing projects, offering technical oversight, and developing new business. He has 20+ years of mechanical engineering experience in the design of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and higher education facilities, with expertise in critical process and mechanical utility systems. John’s overall approach and cross-functional team collaboration skills have established a regional presence while yielding efficient and effective solutions for clients.
Growing up as number four of five rambunctious brothers in a very rural location, John became (by necessity) good at fixing things. He once set the house on fire trying to replicate a portion of DUPONT’s “Better Life Through Chemistry” grade school demonstration, and to this day has a healthy respect for the properties of gasoline and fond appreciation for good water pressure. John has spent his entire career with Precis, beginning as one of the firm’s first employees and evolving into a proficient and personable leader. He has been a critical part of firm evolution, establishing the North Carolina office, growing its team of professionals, and building new client relationships.
The married father of two young boys spends much of his free time with family and watching his sons play sports. The family enjoys spending time at the coast, fishing, hiking, and camping in the mountains. John also volunteers as an elementary school coach for Science Olympiad, finding it rewarding to watch kids have fun while learning about science and engineering concepts at an early age. Other simple pleasures include driving anything with a manual transmission and a nice glass of red wine.
