John Volence

John Volence provides principal-level operational oversight of the mechanical and plumbing engineering departments, including resource management, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of Precis technical standards, policies, and procedures. A mechanical engineer with 18+ years of experience, John also provides engineering analysis, design, and management for projects ranging from central utility plants, laboratories, cleanrooms, and storage facilities to data centers, athletic facilities, classrooms, and conference spaces. He excels in the analysis and design of complex HVAC systems, energy management, and project management, and has built particular expertise serving higher education clients with their specific infrastructure needs.

John distinctly recalls being hired as one of Precis’ earliest employees – and having to build his own desk. His engineering acumen and natural leadership qualities have been amplified over his years with the company, and today he guides firmwide design operations, supports senior leadership, and helps all departments improve standards and efficiencies and ensure a coordinated and consistent approach.

Married with three young kids, John spends his precious free time watching Eagles and Nittany Lions football, going to concerts, traveling, playing video games, hiking in Wissahickon Valley Park, and doing projects around the house – trying to generate the same resource efficiency at home as he does for his clients.
