Principal - Life Sciences

Carl Holden is a founding partner of Arcus Design Group and a Precis principal who remains a hands-on project leader providing strategic guidance. Over the past 30+ years, his focus has been in the planning and design of projects in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and chemical industries. Carl has extensive experience assisting both start-ups and established industry leaders with the programming and planning of offices, laboratories, data centers, and cGMP production and distribution spaces. His commitment to service and attention to detail have earned him many long-term client relationships.

Over the years, Carl has personally renovated three houses and designed and built his family’s home. This construction exposure gives him a better understanding of the contractor’s perspective, making him a vocal promoter of good contractor relations and constructability. He also advocates for younger architects, mentoring them and providing early client exposure to understand the nuance of client relations.

Married with two adult children, Carl and his wife enjoy time spent at their beach house in Rhode Island or any opportunity to get outside. He serves as vice president of the board of Garrett Williamson, a nonprofit childcare and learning center and summer camp, located in Newtown Square, Pa., and has been a volunteer leader for Good Works, Inc., a nonprofit that provides free repair services to low-income homeowners, for 15+ years.
