Position Overview:
The Energy Engineer will be based in the Ambler, Pa., office. The individual must have a background in energy efficiency auditing/decarbonization and a basic understanding of engineering practice within highly regulated industries. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful and goal-oriented individual who desires challenging work in a dynamic environment.
Precis is recognized for our design expertise and proficiency in providing strategically sensitive and technically complex engineering and architectural services. The team is regularly engaged in a broad spectrum of projects that require creative solutions to challenging building systems and utility issues. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sustainability consulting services to identify energy efficiency and decarbonization opportunities, perform calculations to determine energy/carbon savings, and develop reports to document findings.
- Assist clients in the development of utility incentive applications.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the latest industry technology.
- Receive general direction on key objectives, guidance (when necessary) on unconventional and/or complex problems, and direction on modified techniques and approaches for assignments with conflicting criteria.
- Gather, analyze, and interpret information and independently evaluate and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform engineering calculations, analysis, feasibility studies, concept development, and other engineering functions.
- Assign tasks to, direct, and coordinate work with interns, co-ops, and design engineers. Provide training, supervision, mentorship, and general review of all aspects of their work.
- Interact with client representatives, equipment vendors, contractors, energy efficiency program coordinators, project managers, and other project team members to coordinate deliverables and specifics of the project.
- Periodically visit project sites to survey existing conditions and observe ongoing operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Energy Engineering or a related field.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and/or LEED AP certifications preferred.
- Minimum 4-8 years industry engineering experience, with an emphasis on energy-related experience.
- Strong computer literacy with advanced knowledge and use of Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Broad knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards and guidelines.
- Experience with critical environments and related building systems is a plus.
