Precis part of Experic team for new cGMP facility

Precis Engineering has been publicly named by Experic as part of the team for a new cGMP pharmaceutical headquarters facility in Cranbury, N.J. Experic is a privately held pharmaceutical supply services provider focused on the clinical trial and marketed product needs of small, midsize, and specialty drug developers. The company announced it has leased a 45,000-sf state-of-the-art Class A research, manufacturing, and packaging facility and will construct a best-in-class pharmaceutical headquarters in the space. The new cGMP facility will empower Experic to support many critical stages of a product’s lifecycle. It will feature capabilities around unique powder and solid oral manufacturing in addition to traditional dosage forms, complimented by innovative packaging, labeling, and global supply chain management services with the latest processing technologies and IT infrastructure in the industry to date. Experic collaborated closely with the real estate team at Cushman & Wakefield to identify the fit-for-use space. The recently unveiled facility plans are a collaborative effort by the Experic team, Precis Engineering, and Jacobswyper Architects. “We’ve surrounded our vision and strategy with the best talent in their respective fields,” noted Jeff Shane, Experic Co-Founder and Vice Chairman. “It has been an effort underscored by collaborative excellence since day one.” Click to read the Experic news release: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/experic-launch-marked-by-announcement-of-plans-for-state-of-the-art-cgmp-pharmaceutical-supply-services-facility-in-cranbury-new-jersey-300722783.html
Kristina Pumphrey, PE, Joins Precis Engineering to Lead Our New Process Engineering Group

Veteran process engineer and operations excellence executive Kristina Pumphrey, PE, has joined Precis to lead our new process engineering group. Process engineers are responsible for ensuring a robust process to reliably manufacture products in a safe and efficient manner. The key, according to Kristina, is to translate client user requirements into working facilities by specifying the equipment, controls, and interconnecting piping in an efficient layout that meets cGMP and regulatory requirements and results in a quality product. Kristina’s two decades of experience span the life sciences, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries. Her expertise includes material handling, potent compounds, and hazard analysis. “Kristina is an accomplished change-agent and a strategic leader,” said Principal Vincent O’Brien, PE. “She has a keen eye for identifying improvement opportunities. We are confident that her process engineering expertise will immediately support efficiency and cost-effectiveness for our clients.” “I am excited about the opportunity to expand Precis’ existing process engineering capabilities,” said Kristina. “I look forward to helping our clients find the right process and equipment solutions to get the most out of their investments and advance on the best path.” Read Kristina’s biography.

Four Precis Engineers Author Chapter in Biotech Encyclopedia

Four Precis engineers authored the chapter “Addressing Sustainability in Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility Design” in the Encyclopedia of Industrial Biotechnology: Bioprocess, Bioseparation, and Cell Technology, published online 22 June 2017 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The print edition of the encyclopedia will be available later this year. Director of Project Management Josh Capparella, PE, LEED AP BD+C; Principal Sam Colucci, PE, CEM, LEED AP BD+C; Mechanical Engineer Daniel Conner, EIT; and Principal Robert Dick, PE, coauthored the chapter with AGW Communications Principal, writer, and frequent Precis collaborator, Amanda Gibney Weko. From economics and energy benchmarking to building envelope and environmental air quality, Precis engineers offer sustainable guidelines in the encyclopedia. The chapter focuses on the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) aspects of biopharmaceutical facility design and how these contribute to more efficient building and process operations and manufacturing. Sustainability guidelines are driven by the triple-bottom-line approach – supporting people, planet, and profits. “Our engineering approach supports our clients’ business operations and profitability,” explains Dick. “We design systems and utilities where functionality within specific parameters isn’t just a guideline – it’s a requirement. In our focus on technically challenging engineering, we found that sustainable design is not only good for the environment, but is also good for business.” Click here to read the chapter abstract or download the encyclopedia from the Wiley online library: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/9780470054581.eib667/abstract. About the Encyclopedia of Industrial Biotechnology: The Encyclopedia of Industrial Biotechnology: Bioprocess, Bioseparation, and Cell Technology is a key, up-to-date resource for the global biotechnology industry. It is based on the Encyclopedia of Bioprocess Technology (Flickinger and Drew, 1999) and the Encyclopedia of Cell Technology (Spier, 2000). The content was fully revised, updated, and expanded to present all vital aspects – theoretical and practical – of industrial biological processes, techniques, equipment, products, as well as ethical and regulatory issues.
