On Monday, July 19th, 2021, Precis hosted the Second Annual Sam R. Colucci Memorial Golf Outing honoring the legacy of our late partner, colleague, and dear friend, Sam Colucci. Those who attended golfed for a cause, supporting Cancer Legacy in Action Projects (CLAP), and other various organizations dedicated to brain tumor research and awareness. Thanks to the generosity of our guests, more than $10,000 was raised to support the important missions of these organizations. Precis Founding Principal Bob Dick, PE Joins Carpenters’ Company

Precis Founding Principal, Bob Dick, PE was recently accepted into the Carpenters’ Company of the City and County of Philadelphia (Carpenters’ Company) as a full member of the organization. He is one of only two mechanical engineers to be inducted into the Company since its inception in 1724. The Carpenters’ Company is the oldest existing craft association in the United States, dating back 297 years. The Company built, owns, and operates the historic Carpenter’s Hall, located in Philadelphia’s Independence National Historical Park. In 1774, the Hall served to host the First Congressional Congress. Before a recent change in bylaws, the association consisted only of “master builders”, which included architects, contractors, and structural engineers. Bob co-founded Precis in 2005. He has more than 30 years of industry experience as a mechanical engineer. He is a leader in the design of critical environments, utilities and controls for laboratories, vivariums, sterile and oral solid dosage manufacturing, biotechnology, and in the design of campus utility distribution. Bob is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE), the Lean Construction Institute. He holds both Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University, and is a registered Professional Engineer in 29 states.
Precis Engineering Celebrates 16 Years in Business

April 1, 2021 marked 16 years in business for Precis Engineering. While 2020 presented many challenges, our team persevered and got through it together, and even continued to grow over the last year as we welcomed a few new employees. This continued growth landed Precis on the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2020 Best Places to Work and Soaring 76 lists, proud achievements for our firm and our staff. Not only did our team continue to grow, our services continued to expand as well. In January of this year, Precis began offering in-house process architecture services, supplementing the firm’s process and building engineering disciplines, and allowing Precis to better serve our clients, something for which we continuously strive. As we enter into our 16th year of business, our outlook is bright. We know our success would not be possible without the continued trust and support from our valued clients, and the hard work and resilience of our dedicated staff, which we are more grateful for this year than ever. Precis Engineering Hires Tim Lisle as Director of Process Architecture

(Ambler, PA | Cary, N.C. | San Diego, CA) – Precis Engineering, Inc., an MEP engineering firm headquartered in Ambler, Pa., with offices in Cary, N.C., and San Diego, Cal., has hired Timothy Lisle, AIA, as Director of Process Architecture. Lisle’s hire brings in-house process architecture expertise, supplementing the firm’s process and building engineering disciplines. “Tim will work closely with our engineering disciplines and our clients to provide highly responsive, innovative solutions that address their specific project needs from inception to full design and project execution,” said Precis Founding Principal and President Robert Dick, PE. “By having an architect on staff, we can also support our architectural clients with shared perspective and design support.” Tim has more than 35 years of experience in process architecture within the life science, technology, industrial, and public safety markets. His areas of expertise include pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing facility programming, master planning, conceptual development, and design. As Director of Process Architecture, Tim leads the process design efforts on complex pharmaceutical and biotechnology projects, including various types of drug development and manufacturing facilities. Tim holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Architecture and Environmental Science from Auburn University and architectural registration in six states. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), National Emergency Numbers Association (NENA), Lower Merion Township Uniform Construction Code Appeals Board, and Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia Repair Committee, and serves as a visiting architectural critic at Drexel University, Temple University, and the University of Pennsylvania. He resides with his wife in Gladwyne, Pa.
Precis Announces New Principals and Manager Promotions

John Volence, PE, CEM, and Scott Bierwerth, PE, have been named Principals. Todd Rohn, PE, and Vince McGilloway, PE, have been promoted to Mechanical Engineering Managers. John Volence, PE, CEM, and Scott Bierwerth, PE, have been named Principals. Volence retains his concurrent title of Senior Director, Mechanical Engineering; Bierwerth remains Senior Director, Electrical Engineering. His expertise includes design for demand-driven lighting systems and specialized laboratory equipment connections, along with electrical analyses such as arc flash and short-circuit studies. He holds a B.S. in Architectural and Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas and membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and its Industry Applications Society. He resides with his family in Malvern, Pa. “I’m enthusiastic about joining Precis leadership and continuing to grow and improve our electrical team’s capabilities,” said Bierwerth. “I will work to support our team, clients, and mission of continuous improvement.” Manager Promotions In additional promotions, Precis elevated Todd Rohn, PE, and Vince McGilloway, PE, to Mechanical Engineering Managers. Rohn joined Precis in 2015 as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. He has 18+ years of professional experience and expertise in the design and application of complex HVAC systems for cGMP facilities and clean rooms. He is a member of ISPE, the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE) for which he previously served as Philadelphia Chapter board secretary. McGilloway joined Precis in 2012 as a Mechanical Engineer. He has 13 years of professional design and analysis for pharmaceutical and educational facilities and labs with expertise in HVAC and central mechanical utility systems. He is a member of ASHRAE. Both hold B.S. in Mechanical Engineering degrees from Drexel University. As Mechanical Engineering Managers, both Rohn and McGilloway will expand their efforts to the technical development, personnel management, project direction, and quality control of the firm’s Mechanical Engineering Department. “Todd and Vince display unwavering accountability for all aspects of their work, including technical and commercial project success and team mentorship. Their promotions formalize the leadership they have shown for many years with Precis,” said Volence.

Precis Participates in Thanksgiving Food Drive

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, our Ambler office teamed up with our neighbors at Hatch LTK to collect food donations for the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard in Ambler, PA. Together we were able to donate over 540 individual items to help feed families in our community. As always, thank you to our staff for your overwhelming generosity!
