The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) Approves Precis’ Net-Zero Targets

Precis Engineering + Architecture (Precis) announces that the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) Target Validation Team has assessed and approved the company’s submitted greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets: Precis commits to maintain zero scope 1 emissions through 2034. Precis also commits to reduce absolute scope 2 GHG emissions 75 percent by 2034 from a 2024 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions. The SBTi’s Target Validation Team classified Precis’ scope 1 and 2 target ambition and has determined that it is in line with a 1.5°C trajectory. The 1.5°C-aligned target is currently the most ambitious designation available through the SBTi process. The SBTi’s Target Dashboard lists companies and financial institutions that have set science-based targets, or have committed to developing targets. Precis ranks among 10,470 companies with validated net-zero targets. Precis committed to setting sustainability goals through SBTi in 2025, marking a significant milestone. The company has actively eliminated scope 1 emissions through company-controlled systems – both the Ambler and Cary offices are fully electric. Scope 2 carbon footprint reduction will come through the purchase of clean power. As a supplier to large pharmaceutical and industrial clients, Precis’ sustainability commitment supports its clients’ scope 3 supply chain carbon reduction. Precis SBTi efforts are led by Precis’ internal sustainability team and supported by CFO Angelica Biehl; Project Manager Marc Sano, PE, CEM; and Operations Compliance Coordinator Beth Fayant. “Sustainability goals and initiatives encompass more than just reducing our carbon footprint; caring for our planet, our clients, and our people in a sustainable manner drives how we work,” said Biehl. “Precis values our workforce, fosters ethical business practices, and actively helps our clients reach their sustainability objectives as core parts of our business mission.” About SBTi SBTi is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies worldwide to play their part in combating climate change. The organization develops standards, tools, and guidance that allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets in line with what is needed to keep global warming below detrimental levels and reach net-zero by 2050.
