			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Precis Engineering, Inc. has hired Sam Colucci, PE, LEED AP BD+C, as the firm’s newest principal. An expert in pharmaceutical engineering and energy and sustainability design, Colucci brings over 20 years of engineering management and team leadership to his new role.</p>
<p>“Sam’s leadership of both people and projects is characterized by an ability to find customized solutions for every client and facility,” said Precis Principal Robert Dick, PE. “He has a track record of attentiveness to life-cycle costs and environmental impact. His sustainable design expertise and shared commitment to client service bolster the Precis management team and will help the firm continue to provide outstanding engineering service to our clients.”</p>
<p>Colucci’s extensive background includes mechanical systems design and operation for research and development biological and chemical laboratories; oral solid dosage manufacturing, potent compound manufacturing, and active pharmaceutical ingredient processing; aseptic and biotech facilities; and central plant utility design. He previously led an energy services group, for which energy conservation projects offered clients an average payback of under four years, reduced carbon emissions, and saved over $10 million/year. Colucci has been responsible for financial, legal, technical, and quality oversight for teams of mechanical engineers and designers on complex critical facility projects.</p>

<p>Precis Engineering, Inc. has provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) and process engineering and commissioning services for Morphotek, Inc.’s new $80 million, 60,000-square foot manufacturing pilot plant on Welsh Road in Exton, Pa. The facility houses a biologics plant, laboratories, cGMP cell culture core area, warehouse storage, and offices to support the company’s production of biologics for early-stage clinical trials. Operations at the facility are scheduled to begin in 2012.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Precis Engineering, Inc. has hired mechanical engineers Michael A. Ferguson, LEED AP, and Keith Shannon to support an influx of pharmaceutical and central utility plant projects. The new employees started October 24 and 31, respectively.</p>
<p>Michael Ferguson brings technical sales and engineering skills in project management, cost estimating, HVAC design and analysis, machining, and LEED compliance. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from New Mexico State University and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation. A member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Ferguson has served on the organization’s New Mexico Chapter Board of Governors and as chair of multiple activities, including the 2010 National Summer Meeting. He will assist the Precis team with new business development and general mechanical engineering responsibilities. Ferguson was previously employed with Sigler, Inc. in Albuquerque, New Mexico.</p>
<p>“Michael’s early career working with owners and engineering consultants as an HVAC equipment representative impacts his understanding of technical solutions to challenging project requirements,” said Precis Principal Larry Gadbois, PE. “His balance of technical proficiency and first-hand mechanical experience helps him effectively communicate design issues and technologies to clients, while offering insights for our mechanical project team.”</p>
<p>Keith Shannon graduated in June from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He will leverage multiple internship experiences in which he served as a quality control engineer, field technician, and general contractor to inform his project work with Precis.</p>
<p>“Keith will immediately contribute to Precis’ client work by assisting with calculations and analyses, computer modeling, and field surveys,” said Gadbois. “We look forward to his growth and development as an engineer on our team.”</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Precis Engineering, Inc. has hired mechanical engineer Stanley Orner, PE, LEED AP, as Project Manager and Aileen F. Tang-Zierold as Senior Commissioning Engineer. The new employees started April 25 and May 2, respectively.</p>
<p>Orner has provided project management and engineering design for specialized pharmaceutical and R &#038; D mechanical systems and equipment, including cleanroom HVAC systems, hydronic and steam systems, and “clean” process utility systems. His pharmaceutical engineering work has included new system design and retrofits. He has also written risk assessments and commissioning test protocols for commissioning and qualification of clean utilities, and managed the system commissioning process.</p>
<p>“Stan has a strong background in HVAC system design for pharmaceutical facilities and is well-versed in development of 2D and 3D systems modeling,” said Precis Principal Larry Gadbois, PE. “He is capable of collaborating with clients and interdisciplinary project teammates alike while providing leadership that assures technical design quality, budget, and project schedule.”</p>
<p>Tang-Zierold brings over a decade of experience as a project design application engineer and HVAC systems designer to her role at Precis. She will add her knowledge of building automation design, mechanical and electrical equipment sequences and HVAC specifications to the Precis commissioning team.</p>
<p>“Aileen’s strengths in HVAC system design and building automation are essential qualities for commissioning critical facilities with complex mechanical and electrical systems,” said Gadbois. “Her technical and leadership skills will support Precis clients through the commissioning process of equipment startup, system calibration, and training.”</p>
<p>Orner holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, professional engineering registration in Pennsylvania, and LEED accreditation. He is a member of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).</p>
<p>Tang-Zierold holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. She is an associate member of ASHRAE, a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Omega, and an alumni member of Delta Phi Epsilon. She is fluent in Spanish.</p>

<p>Precis Engineering, Inc. is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) and process engineering and commissioning services for Morphotek, Inc.’s new $80 million, 60,000 square foot manufacturing pilot plant, under construction on Welsh Road in Exton, Pennsylvania.</p>

<p>The Morphotek facility will house a biologics plant, laboratories, cGMP cell culture core area, warehouse storage, and offices to support the company’s production of biologics for early-stage clinical trials. Completion is planned for spring 2011 with operations beginning in 2012.</p>
<p>“The building’s design will tell the story of Morphotek’s research and development toward new treatments for cancer and other diseases,” said Precis principal Robert Dick, PE. “Glass-walled corridors will provide unprecedented access to view clean rooms, production suites, and mechanical systems in operation. The design will let executives tour the facility without having to put on clean-room garments.”</p>
<p>Precis developed the engineering design using Autodesk Revit MEP software, a relatively new Building Information Modeling (BIM) tool with strong three-dimensional coordination abilities. The design team, including Precis and Arcus Design Group Architects, Inc., has used the new software to streamline the design and decision-making processes. In addition, Precis has generated three-dimensional animated videos that illustrate how the finished facility will look and how its state-of-the-art systems will function. </p>
<p>The Morphotek pilot plant has been designed to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification at the Silver level or higher. </p>
