Facility Retro-commissioning
Location: Upper Providence, PA
Client: GlaxoSmithKline
Value: $500,000 (design and commissioning)
Precis Engineering developed a comprehensive retro-commissioning plan to assess and offer modernization recommendations for a 135,000 square foot office building. The four-story building was built in the 1980s with pneumatic HVAC control systems, four air handlers, and over 300 fan powered control boxes. Key components of the project included:
- Extensive field surveys to verify existing conditions
- Extensive review of original building plans and subsequent retrofits to create as-built documentation
- Evaluation of existing fluorescent lighting and recommendations for installation of a lighting control system
- Generation of detailed goals and data required by the TAB contractor to support retro-commissioning recommendations
- Report and recommendations for HVAC system changes to achieve improved building performance and reduced energy usage
