Central Utility Plant Steam System Replacement

Precis Engineering led an in-house team of mechanical and electrical engineers for replacement a steam generating plant in a critical campus building. The building is the research center of campus, containing a vivarium and pilot-scale production facility as well as research laboratories. The system replacement was meant to ensure long-term performance of the building. Key components of the project included:
- Design of a replacement steam generating plant
- Phased replacement of two 400 boiler horsepower 60 psig steam boilers; a 30,000 pound-per-hour dearator; and all associates appurtenances
- Installation of a temporary dearator/feed system and temporary boilers to avoid shutdown of the facility
